Anteater Electric Racing 2021

Donate to help the Electric FSAE Team build Ampeater II to compete in FSAE California 2021!

Our team is aiming to raise $10,000 to fund our Electric Race Car named “Ampeater II” to compete in the FSAE competition in 2021! Ampeater II is an electric, open-wheeled, formula-style race car that follows the FSAE Electric Rulebook and is geared to win the race! Help us reach our goal and bring the win to UC Irvine!

Ampeater I prototype in UCI's Vehicle Performance Lab.

Anteater Electric Racing’s primary objective is to fabricate, test and enter Ampeater II in the FSAE California Competition. Our goal for competition is to be the first team from UC Irvine to pass all 3 stringent technical inspections and succeed in all static and dynamic events for a podium finish.

Our team is composed of 58 talented student engineers from Aerospace, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering backgrounds to construct Ampeater. Students here become successful engineers and leaders in industry due to the experience learned from building an Electric Racecar collectively as a team.

Welcome the 2021 Anteater Electric Racing Team!

Team Approach

This year, our team is improving last year’s design and has successfully advanced our timeline by 4 months compared to previous years. To facilitate the process of building Ampeater, our team is organized into two major systems - Electrical and Mechanical - with a respective Chief Engineer. Both major systems have subteams with a subteam lead and associate engineers.

The Electrical System is composed of the Electrical, Embedded computers, and Batteries subsystems. The Mechanical System is made of the AerodynamicsChassisHuman InterfacePowertrain and Suspension subteams. To wrap the team organization, the Management subteam ensures all subsystems are up to speed.

Currently the team is fabricating Ampeater and needs your help to fund our project and represent UC Irvine!

About Formula SAE California

The Objective of the FSAE competition is to provide a challenge to SAE students in designing high performing, open-wheeled formula race cars to compete against other universities across the globe. FSAE is an annual competition and Anteater Electric Racing will compete in the California region against 35 other Electric Vehicles and 75 Internal Combustion Vehicles.

Vehicle Design is paramount to the competition - Teams are to assume they work for an engineering firm contracted to design, fabricate, test and demonstrate a one-off prototype vehicle. The vehicle should have high performance and high reliability to compete in all events, and will be judged on aesthetics, cost, ergonomics, maintainability and manufacturability. Each vehicle will participate in a series of Static (Cost, PresentationDesign) and Dynamic (AccelerationSkidpadAutocrossEnduranceEfficiency) events to determine the winner of the competition.

The competition will be held in the summer of 2021. Hope to see you there and cheer us on to victory!
