SAGE Alumni Fundraiser: SAGE Scholars Student Awards

Update: We have raised over $5000 in our SAGE Alumni Zotfunder campaign! This will help us provide emergency grants and awards to 10 SAGE Scholars in the current cohort. To those who have already given, we are truly thankful. This campaign is not over! This academic year, we plan to serve up to 80 students in this program, all of whom are low-income and the majority, first-generation college students who could benefit immensely from a scholarship, emergency grant or student award for conference expenses or school and lab materials.

If every SAGE alum who has not yet participated donates a minimum of $10, we can make awards to an additional 10 students. If that average increases to $25, we can financially support close to half the students in the program!! We are also so thankful for every gift that comes from the friends of the SAGE community. Your support of our current scholars and this alumni campaign will help us serve even more students this academic year.

UCI SAGE Alumni are coming together this summer to support current SAGE Students who are transitioning back to in-person learning and on-campus activities this fall. A majority of these students are the first in their families to attend college, all are low-income, and for many, the pandemic brought new challenges in regard to health, safety, access to resources, and the need to balance schooling with support to their own families at home.

These SAGE Scholars are now returning to campus and refocusing on their education, research, and professional development. But for many, resources are now even tighter, making the need for student award support greater. A gift to this campaign will provide students in the SAGE Scholars program with scholarships, emergency grants, materials and equipment.

The mission of the SAGE Scholars Program is to strengthen the pipeline of talented and diverse students entering the workforce. Through a cohort-model support network, students receive leadership training, career and graduate school planning mentorship, and access to paid internships and scholarship opportunities. It has become a model program for helping vulnerable students stay in school, earn degrees, and be competitive candidates for jobs.

No one knows the benefits of SAGE more than our amazing SAGE alumni network, who have gone on to work as leaders in Fortune 500 companies, in well-recognized non-profits and public policy institutes, and in medicine, tech, education, public service, and more. We are so thankful for the support from our SAGE alumni network, corporate non-profit partners, community stakeholders, and friends.

Your gift today, no matter the amount, will make a difference in a SAGE Scholar’s life this upcoming academic year. To give a different amount than the suggested levels of giving, click on the $25 ‘SAGE Friend’ Tile and overwrite with your own giving amount.
