UCI Staff Assembly promotes the interests of staff members and seeks to bolster communications between staff and UCI administration. An all-volunteer organization, we partner with leadership on issues of interest to staff, and support and develop activities to serve the UCI community. Based on staff feedback, our programming is designed by staff, for staff.

Mike Puritz Staff Assembly Career Enhancement Scholarship Program
The Mike Puritz Staff Assembly Career Enhancement Scholarship Program helps UC Irvine and UCI Medical Center career employees further their educational goals and professional development. The scholarship is named in honor of Mike Puritz, who retired from UCI in 2015 after 35 years of service as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and Associate Director of UCI Campus Recreation, and 19 years of service to the UCI Staff Assembly.
Since its inception in 2015, nearly 50 recipients have received up to $500 scholarships each to pursue an academic degree, take Continuing Education courses, and attend workshops, webinars, conferences or other classes. Last year we awarded 14 scholarships after receiving 80 applications. With increased demand, this year have moved to two award cycles, with 20 awards approved in November from 46 applications.
