UCI Rocket Project Liquids Team

Founded in 2005, the UC Irvine Rocket Project began as a small group of engineering students passionate about flight technology--launching high-power solid rockets and bringing their creations to the skies. After a decade of experimental designs, the project shifted its trajectory towards a higher goal and joined the collegiate race to space as part of the Base11 Space Challenge. Since the debut of the Base 11 Rocketry Lab in 2018, the UC Irvine Rocket Project has evolved into a combined total of 67 undergraduates and a legacy of alumni leading cutting-edge research and engineering in the new space industry.

Since launching UCI's first liquid rocket this past Spring, the Liquids team is determined to break the collegiate methalox altitude record in two years with its next rocket. As one of only a few university rocket teams to use methalox propulsion, the UCI Rocket Project is led by ambitious students driven by challenge and the new liquid rocket presents the largest opportunity yet for the team to demonstrate their learning and secure a record-holding title for UC Irvine.

The Liquids team is currently in the development testing phase of its new rocket "MOCH4," with its first static test fire planned for the Fall 2024 quarter and launch by Spring 2025. Although the project has a notable foundation of knowledge to build on from the previous launch, competition guidelines prohibit vehicles from being reused, which requires the team to dedicate spending towards replacing materials in addition to manufacturing new designs.

Every dollar counts as much as every foot in altitude and your support will allow us to push the limits of collegiate rocketry, so we have an EXCLUSIVE OFFER for anyone reading this right now!

Our Offer:

If we hit our $15,000 goal, we will be inviting our three highest donors out to spectate our next launch at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (F.A.R) site in the Mojave Desert, CA. Please note that this is purely an invitation; travel expenses and the supplemental fee to attend the launch ($20), paid directly to F.A.R., will not be covered.

We can’t thank you enough for your support and can’t wait to share our progress with you and take one step closer towards our next launch!
