The UC Irvine School of Education has launched a fundraising campaign to provide books for the library at Monroe Elementary School, UC Irvine’s first university-assisted community partnership school in the Santa Ana Unified School District. This collaboration exemplifies UC Irvine’s commitment to educational equity and community engagement.
Monroe Elementary serves a diverse student body in Santa Ana, where many families face barriers to accessing quality educational resources, including books. Your contribution can help ensure every child has access to books and digital tools that spark imagination, foster curiosity, and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
A library is more than a collection of books - it’s a hub for community growth. A place to host literacy programs, parent workshops, and after-school activities, creating a space where families can learn together.
“Our mission is to empower through education,” said Frances Contreras, dean of the UC Irvine School of Education. “Ensuring Monroe Elementary’s students have access to a well-stocked library is a crucial step in that journey, serving as a beacon of opportunity for the entire community.”
Funds raised through this campaign will go toward purchasing books, expanding library holdings, and developing community programs. Community members, alumni, and local businesses are invited to contribute through donations or participate in upcoming events, such as book drives and educational workshops.
Join us in making a difference for Monroe Elementary students and their community. Together, we can provide the resources they need to thrive.
