Who We Are

UCI Baja SAE, proudly known as Anteater Baja Racing, is a student-led engineering team at UC Irvine. We are united by a shared passion for innovation, problem-solving and the thrill of off-road vehicle design and competition. Each year, our team takes on the exciting challenge of designing, building and testing a new off-road vehicle to compete in the Baja SAE competitions, hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

With a team of over 30 talented students spanning various engineering disciplines, we bring together diverse perspectives and technical expertise. Guided by experienced faculty mentors, we combine classroom theory with hands-on practice to tackle complex engineering challenges and bring our designs to life.

Our Mission

For 2025, we are developing Corsair, our most innovative vehicle yet. This off-road vehicle is designed to excel in a series of grueling competition events, such as endurance racing, hill climb, suspension and traction tests, and dynamic maneuverability challenges.

We aim to place in the top 20 teams in every event category by implementing cutting-edge engineering solutions. Some of our advancements this year include:

● A lightweight carbon-fiber body for improved speed and durability.

● A raked front suspension to enhance maneuverability over rough terrains.

● A custom-designed gearbox to deliver exceptional torque and optimize power transmission.

Our Journey So Far

This journey isn’t just about building a vehicle – it’s about learning, growing and overcoming obstacles together as a team. Over the past year, we have:

● Completed the initial design phase and refined Corsair to align with the rigorous Baja SAE standards.

● Implemented a resin infusion manufacturing process for the first time, showcasing our commitment to innovation.

● Tested and iterated on subsystems to ensure safety, reliability and peak performance.
