Dear Rocket Project Liquids community,
On behalf of the UC Irvine Rocket Project Liquids team, we want to extend our thanks to all our donors for your generosity and support throughout our recent ZotFunder campaign. Because of your contributions, our team raised $17,897 from 63 donors and reached a whopping 357% of our original goal! This support strengthens our ability to continue developing, testing and launching our second-generation liquid bipropellant rocket, MOCH4. More importantly, this support means a great deal to our team members, because it allows us to pursue our love of rocketry while honing skills that will move the needle forward wherever our career paths take us.
To safely reach launch readiness, our team follows an incremental testing campaign that includes subsystem validation, vertical test fires, solid rocket flights and full vehicle assembly. These tests are essential because they allow us to collect real data, identify areas of improvement and verify that our propulsion and recovery systems are ready before committing to a full launch. Your donations help us cover the inevitable costs associated with conducting these tests. For instance, a single major testing trip to the Friends of Amateur Rocketry site in the Mojave Desert can cost over $3,000 including site fees, member transportation, food, propellants, propellant transportation and more. These funds allow us to reduce the financial burden on individual students while moving our testing program forward.
In the coming months, the money raised will support continued component validation with the end of quarter goal being a sixth vertical test fire for MOCH4 and an eighth solid rocket launch. Our team is working overtime this summer to make sure that we knock these goals out of the park!
We could not be more grateful to every donor who helped our campaign! Your support goes beyond hardware or travel expenses; it gives a group of undergraduate students the opportunity to take on real engineering challenges outside of the classroom, learn from testing and fulfill our itch for rocketry by contributing to a project that pushes the boundaries of what a collegiate team can achieve.
