After 28 years of service, Robin Jeffers, Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering retired. She is truly the heart of the Undergraduate Student Affairs office and has been key to the success of so many of our students.
Robin joined UCI in 1996 as director of the Center for Opportunities and Diversity in Engineering (CODE) and served in this role until 2014. In 2005, Robin also became Director for Undergraduate Student Affairs and has continued in this role for the past nearly 20 years. In 2019 she added another responsibility to her portfolio as Director of Curriculum and Accreditation (the CASA office). Over her 28 years with Engineering, Robin has enhanced the recruitment, retention, and mentoring of students (including those historically underrepresented), has built a staff of dedicated academic advisors, and has overseen a major expansion of Undergraduate Student Affairs as both faculty numbers and undergraduate enrollments increased. Under her leadership, the office is well-positioned to meet future challenges.
In all her roles at UCI, Robin has consistently served the school and students with knowledge, dedication, and most importantly with heart. It is no coincidence that so many students stay in contact with her – her guidance has been important to their success both at UCI and beyond.
On June 21, 2024, family, friends, colleagues, alumni, and students joined Robin on her retirement celebration and thanked her for her incredible dedication to our students and to Engineering, and wished her the very best in her well-earned retirement.
A tribute was also announced at the event noting that an endowment to honor Robin’s legacy had been created.
One of the Associate Deans for Undergraduate Student Affairs, John LaRue, who had the pleasure of working with Robin stated that "Robin has had an enormous impact on students every day where they referred her to as their “school mom”. The students adored her and by means of this endowment, her legacy can continue to impact students year after year even after retirement.”
